Cherokee and other original people of the world sometimes taught that every animal had its human tribal connection. Some taught a literal family descent link to the band totem family animal, others teach a symbolic link to the animal totem figure and animal family member.  The Rook or Raven is a major Cherokee (Cherooke) totem bird.

Yes, Kingbird was and is real!  One translation of America is indeed Kingbird, from Amir or King and Ca or Caw or Kaw or Bird, as in Kaw Band or Bird Band of Cherokee Nation!  The Thunderbird tradition of Indian America is ours!  Redbird is a modern messenger or angel from God, serving as our totem symbol, and link to our Cherokee Nation relativies and history then and now.  Kingbird is a living link to Preancient history in the Americas and around the world.  The Preancients and Cherokee taught the story of a giant bird, linked to Heaven and Earth, a messenger and friend or foe, depending on the person or events or circumstances.  Kingbird lives in us and Redbird Band, a Bird Band remnant.
